Article 170 Federal Criminal Code

To the person who, employing explosives or incendiary materials, or by any other means, totally or partially destroys air or maritime navigation facilities or services or airports that provide services to civil aviation, any fixed platform, or a ship, aircraft, or other vehicle of federal or local public service, or that provides services to the public, if they are found occupied by one or more persons, twenty to thirty years of imprisonment shall be applied.

To whoever uses remotely piloted aircraft in the execution of the acts described in the preceding paragraph, the penalty shall be increased by up to one third.

When the property that results affected belongs or is destined to the Armed Forces, national security or public security, the established penalty shall be increased by up to one half.

If no person is found in the vehicle, facility or platform in question, imprisonment of five to twenty years shall be applied.

Likewise, three to twenty years of imprisonment and a fine of one hundred to four hundred times the daily value of the Measurement and Updating Unit (Unidad de Medida y Actualización) shall be imposed, without prejudice to the penalty that corresponds for other crimes committed, on whoever, through violence, threats or deceit, takes possession of or exercises control of a fixed platform, air or maritime navigation facilities or services, or airports that provide services to civil aviation; as well as of a ship, aircraft, railroad machine or train, buses or any other means of public collective, interstate or international transport, or makes them deviate from their route or destination.

When any of the crimes contemplated in this article and in 168 is committed by a public official of any police corporation, in addition to the penalties indicated in these articles, dismissal from employment shall be imposed and they shall be disqualified for one to ten years from holding public office or commission. If whoever commits the aforementioned crimes is a member of the Mexican Armed Forces in a situation of retirement, reserve or active duty, in addition the definitive discharge from the Armed Force to which they belong shall be imposed and they shall be disqualified for one to ten years from holding public office or commission.

For the purposes of this article, a fixed platform shall be understood as an artificial island, facility or structure permanently attached to the seabed or to the continental platform for purposes of exploration or exploitation of resources or other purposes of an economic nature.
