Current text · last reform published in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF) on 13 March 2026
The suspension of rights is of two classes:
I.- That which by operation of law results from a sanction as a necessary consequence of the latter, and
II.- That which by formal judgment (sentencia) is imposed as a sanction.
In the first case, the suspension begins and concludes with the sanction of which it is a consequence.
In the second case, if the suspension is imposed with another penalty depriving of liberty, it shall begin upon the termination of the latter and its duration shall be that indicated in the judgment (sentencia).
