TITLE THREE. Working Conditions · CHAPTER VII. Protective rules and privileges of the wage

Current text · last reform published in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF) on 14 May 2026

The wage in cash must be paid precisely in currency of legal tender, it not being permitted to do so in merchandise, vouchers, tokens or any other representative sign with which it is attempted to substitute the currency.

With the prior consent of the employee, the payment of the wage may be made by means of deposit in a bank account, debit card, transfers or any other electronic means. The expenses or costs originated by these alternative means of payment shall be covered by the employer.

In all cases, the employee must have access to the detailed information of the items and deductions of payment. The payment receipts must be delivered to the employee in printed form or by any other means, without prejudice to the fact that the employer must deliver it in a printed document when the employee so requires.

The printed receipts must contain the autograph signature of the employee for their validity; the payment receipts contained in digital tax receipts over the Internet (CFDI) may substitute the printed receipts; the content of a CFDI shall be evidence if it is verified in the Internet portal of the Tax Administration Service (Servicio de Administración Tributaria); in case it is validated, the provisions of section I of article 836-D of this Law shall apply.
